Many of you know that the Chicago Marathon occurred last weekend.
The post about CM10 is entitled “Anybody Can Run A Marathon” and basically denigrates everyone who actually DOES run a marathon. Even if it’s intended as a joke, it is poorly executed at best. The author claims that because anyone can run a marathon, people who actually run marathons do not have a right to be proud of their accomplishment.
I thought of a lot of things that I could say about this. Like, not everyone can run a marathon- it takes a huge physical toll and not everyone can do that. Even if everyone “can” run a marathon, not everyone is willing to put in the time and effort (and money!) to train for a marathon. And believe me, there IS a cost. I could probably write many pages about how wrong and inappropriate that post is.
But… just go read his post. I think it speaks for itself.
