Wow, what a day…
When I woke up this morning (EARLY!), I was very disoriented at first. Why was I getting up so early? Then I remembered- RACE!
We got dressed and left for the race, which began at 7:30. Ugh, that was EARLY! I was lining up at the starting line before the sun was even up!

I wish I had more to say about the race but I really don’t. It proved to be a HARD race. I set a good time- a great time, really- but not as good as I had hoped. Maybe I set my goals too high. I suspect that a large part of my problem was that I haven’t really adhered to a training plan for the past month (since the KC Zoo Run). Regardless, here it is:

A good race, you see. I’m not exactly disappointed- a 13:47 pace is good enough that I may even consider signing up for a half-marathon. For sure I will do a 10k soon. Although at the same time, I’d like to run another 5k soon and try to better my time.
Hm. So now I just need to figure out what races I plan to run in November and December. Do I run a 10k in November and a 5k in December, or vice-versa? Or do I run a 10k in November and then look towards a half-marathon? Too many choices!

GRATS, Mel!
this is amazing!!! Love the photo!!!! Nice run, and I think you should definitely work toward a half marathon — I KNOW you can do it!! I think you should run a 5k or a 10k whenever one is available, so if there is a 10k in November but not in December, then I say do it!
As the Swedes would say GRATTIS!!
