redemptive run

What a day! I got up this morning and headed out on a run with the best of intentions, all kinds of great optimistic plans. But I got outside, and it was COLD. I ran but just struggled all the way, and even after I got moving, I was still cold- probably the sign of winter. I wasn’t out for long before I decided to just cut my losses, turn around, and go home. Two miles, half an hour… I figured I would save my legs and try again tomorrow.

I stopped by the gym and spent a few minutes with the foam roller, then went and picked up Sadie to take her for a walk. We hadn’t walked for long when my mind began percolating… if I stopped walking her after two miles, instead of four, then I would have time to go back to the gym and run on the treadmill… maybe I could still redeem this day…

So, I did just that. I went back to the gym, hopped on the treadmill, and ran 2.86 miles in 40 minutes. That’s a 5 minute warmup and 5 minute cool down, and 30 minutes of running nonstop! That’s a VERY hard distance for me. It’s on the treadmill which is less than ideal- I have run farther on the treadmill than off. But it’s something, it’s a start, and it’s a fantastic run considering that it almost didn’t happen!
