The rain that the weatherman has been predicting all week finally came today. It was quite early this morning, in fact, that a severe thunderstorm woke me from my sleep. I’m a deep sleeper, so a storm that wakes me up has to be quite severe indeed!
Today was definitely a recovery day- no running today after yesterday’s 8-miler. Since it is Good Friday, my mother (a teacher) had the day off, so we got to spend the day together. Even though it was just running errands, I enjoyed getting the chance to spend time with her.
In fact, I am a more unusual runner in that, I generally do not like to do my long runs on the weekends. Lots of runners choose the weekend for long runs because that’s when they have the most time. For me, though, the weekend is the only time I have to spend with my parents. Also, on Sunday, my first priority is church. If I’m able to squeeze in a run, that’s great, but I will never skip church to run. Plus I’m a slow runner, which makes my long runs that much longer. For me, my long run usually falls late in the week (Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday).
