Nervous? Of course.
Excited? You better believe it!
In nine and a half hours (give or take), I’ll be taking off on a half marathon. This afternoon I went to the expo for packet pickup. I had fun, saw lots of funny things, and took a few funny photos of said funny things with my cell phone, but since it’s so late the photos will have to wait until tomorrow. Or, given how tired I am sure I will be… maybe next week!
By the way, I definitely need to get a photo of this race bib. It’s really neat! Even has my name printed on it!
The route on this particular race is pretty simple- possibly the most logical race route I’ve ever run. It’s kinda rectangular- you go north a short way, one block east, several miles south, one block west, and then several more miles north. No weird extra little out-and-backs or loops added onto the route to meet the mileage.
Weather is supposed to be warm. The high for the day is in the low 90s (Fahrenheit), but of course the race starts early (7am). I’m not wild about getting up early but I know it’s worthwhile to enjoy the cooler temps- 74 when the race starts, up into the low 80s when the race ends and during the post-race festivities.
I honestly haven’t decided which pace group to go with for this race, but since I started too fast and bonked last time, I think I will probably go with the 2:55 or 3:00 pace team. I know it will be hard to hold myself back but it would be worth it to finish faster.
Can’t think of anything else to add. I will watch the news and check the weather for the umpteenth time, then it’s off to bed for me. Three hours of misery for a lifetime of glory, right?!?!
