yoga and running

Ahhh, Tuesday. I love Tuesday but sometimes I also hate Tuesday.

Tuesday is the day I wake up earliest- 4:15 or 4:30 am- to go to a yoga class at 5:30. I love the yoga class and so I love Tuesday mornings… but then in the afternoon, I’m tired and not my usual cheery self!

Anyway, today I was especially looking forward to yoga. The past few days have been just crazy, so busy I could hardly think straight, and I knew I wanted to work out again! I also expected today to be a little different than usual… Usually on Tuesdays, I go to yoga, eat breakfast, then walk my friend’s dog afterwards, so Tuesdays are usually “active recovery” days. But today I knew I would not be able to walk the dog, and combined with my lack of a good run in the past 3 days or so, I decided to follow yoga with breakfast and a run.

It was a fantastic run too. I went to a park that is almost entirely flat- maybe a few slight inclines, but not much at all. I completely forgot to bring my watch, so I don’t know my time at all, but I ran 4 miles and it felt fantastic. Miles 1 and 2 were solid. My pace kinda fell apart during mile 3, but I was able to pick it back up again in mile 4. I’m incredibly delighted by this. It’s just solid solid pace and I feel great about it.

The one and only “negative” is that this course did not have any hills to speak of. I don’t like hills- I don’t feel strong on hills. But I need to train on hills!

Nonetheless today was a good day. No, a GREAT day. And I’m happy with it!
