thunderstorms and progress

Right now I’m listening to rain pouring down outside. It may be February but we’re in the middle of a severe thunderstorm- Missouri weather is nothing if not unpredictable! There are reports of a possible tornado touchdown in Kansas, just a little west of us. Scary.

Earlier today I heard one meteorologist predict that it will be windy tomorrow. Now, with this current storm, the weather is even more unpredictable. But I’d definitely still like to get a few miles in- if the weather holds!! If not I suppose that I can head to the gym and use the treadmill.

What a winter this has been! I have scarcely used the treadmill at all this year, and I’ve liked it. It has been a lot of fun to push myself outside and to feel my body getting stronger. Last winter, I did the best I could, but it was so cold and icy that almost all my miles were on the treadmill.

Anyway. Today has been (another) good day. Not to sound conceited, but I’m so proud of what I’ve accomplished. I don’t think most people understand what a big deal this is for me. I went from being a non-runner to a runner, which is a miracle in itself. But even bigger than that, I think back to my fuzzy memories of being in the hospital and the therapists who said I would never be able to walk again. Running has become everything to me.
